Popular Indian film actor wants to remake ‘Family Guy’ and ‘The Simpsons’ but in an Indian context…
I wonder how much it would cost for us to hire a writer in Mumbai, India??
A while ago we wrote about an Indian cartoonist getting thrown in jail for his cartoon that I thought was pretty funny. Since then we have seen rebellion take on a more animated form as we’ve been covering Family Guy inspired efforts from Canada, UK, New Zealand, and even a Latino-influenced show. Welp, turns out Indian actor Abhay Deol wants to make a stamp representing his country as he was recently interviewed by The Times of India where he was asked what would be some of the projects he would like to work on in the future:
“My motto is ‘Never say Never’! I would like to remake ‘The Simpsons’ and the ‘The Family Guy’ in an Indian context.”
For those who don’t know (and I certainly didn’t) but Abhay Deo isn’t just another actor based from India. Rather this guy gets to go to like GQ events and other hosh-posh locales so he’s kinda a big deal over there. That said, how would an Indian Family Guy work in a country that has a low tolerance for controversy? Granted, I’ve been keeping my eye on the Indian Death Metal scene and that’s been slowly but surely making its way over to States-side in terms of awareness so maybe this is just another way for the Indian middle-aged youth to express themselves. In any case, I am all for it…now to see if people in Mumbai read Craigslist in India!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
