MASS HISTORIA

Springfield is celebrating its 200th anniversary…late and everyone is there for the booze and the partying. Lisa uses this opp to ask the townsfolk to talk up Springfield’s history to which Comic Book Guy talks of the founding fathers as the Fantastic Forefathers where everyone has super powers indicative of Fantastic Four. We then get Lisa’s take of Springfield’s Civil War contribution….as heard on Wikipedia. Next we get a story where two not-so-average bears looking to pick off picnickers of their food. Then we get Frink’s account of his dad getting us flying but not getting the patent. Afterwards we get Edna’s story on women’s right to vote…for hats1 How about who was the true architect for Superman? We finish with Lisa’s tales…of the future>

MOE MEETS HIS MATCH

Moe meets this crazy lady that has the hots for him and he has no idea how to get rid of her because she threatens harm. Eventually, Moe tries everything, but only the trials and tribulations of long term marriage can thwart this barrel of nuts. That’s ok, cuz Moe’s got Barney.

If it wasn’t for the fact that Moe story was almost identical to the episode of Family Guy where Quagmire gets married, then I would say this was a great issue. Instead we get decent one because the first story was a lot of fun as getting re-imagined Simpsons characters never gets old. The PSA was a nice touch, and the pencils for it were absolutely stellar. Anytime we can get different looks for the Simpson family it helps spice shit up and it gets me more interested. The last plot as mentioned, funny, well-written, but CLEAR derivation of a classic Family Guy episode. Weirdly enought this issue cost me FIVE DOLLARS!! I used to get comics for 3.99 and I think charging an extra dollar may be the wrong way to go.
