Review: Regular Show ‘CaveMan’

Mordecai and Rigby are partying in a cave like bros when the fire they build defrosts an ice block to reveal a cave man! At first, the guys are freaked out, but they soon find out that the Cave man is pretty awesome because he loves to dance, eat a bunch of nacho cheese,  and make grunting noises. Benson isn’t a fan of him and gives Mordecai and Rigby a week to civilize this Cave dude or he’s gonna call the pound! The other park employees pitch in and eventually ‘Greg’ is off and ready to take the Benson test, but not before Greg finds his long lost love. Yep, turns out there were a bunch of cave people, but Greg only cares about his cave girl named Diane.  Unfortunately, Diane isn’t too crazy about Greg going through all these changes and she takes off in a fit of rage to melt the other cave people who run a friggin’ muck around town. Thankfully, Greg tells Mordecai and Rigby to get some meat and leads the cave people into a freezer, but the he decides to stay behind in the cold storage unit with Diane.

Yep, I was also a fan of Encino Man and this week’s episode seemed to be a pretty faithful adaptation of that with the exception of the last twist sequence that threw me for a loop! Though to be honest, I thought there were one too many musical montages and in a show that’s only 12 minutes I think that more than one is overdoing it. But, the strength of the plot and with how good Greg was, and that ending cinematic showed shades of why this is one of the best cartoons around on any network.
