In this week’s episode, “Over-Flubbed,” viewers are given an insight into some of the canyon residents, other than the Wendells, with two story arcs regarding delusional ex-rock star Sid and the blue blood Manderbelts. The canyon community have a meeting and agree that they Manderbelts have been out of line, and Sheila, Beverly Manderbelt’s arch-nemesis, is nominated to confront the aristocrats to make them change their ways.

When the Wendells learn that Reginald is unhappy with his wife, and after a get-together with the boys at the canyon pub, they convince him to move out. Reginald rooms with Uncle Vernon, resulting in an Odd-Couplesque situation, as the polar-opposites somehow manage to get along.

Elsewhere, Angel tries to convince Sid to produce her daughter’s single. After some tough convincing, she resorts to blackmail. Brandi’s recording is so terrible, Angel blackmails Roxy into lending her voice (perhaps a comment on contemporary pop music). Sheila decides to help Beverly win Reginald back, by teaching her how to do things for herself, starting with cooking. Of course, each meal turns out disastrous. Brandi’s debut concert night commences as the climax of the episode. You may be wondering if Angel and Brandi will get their way and be successful with her lip-syncing career and will Beverly be able to win her estranged husband back. Without spoiling the ending, just remember that every episode seems to tie up loose ends and resort back to the status quo. But that return to normality always tends to set the canyon up for another adventure the following week.

This episode had more laughs than usual, probably because the plot had a perspective from other characters, which is something the writer’s should focus on more often, since Norm’s quips tend to be as funny as watching paint dry. The stand out scene was the revelation of the Manderbelts’ servant, Bjorn, who constantly clones Beverly from her used tissues, and then shoots her. As Robot Chicken says, “darkest sketch ever.”
