Review: Archer “Midnight Ron”
Spoilers Below
Sterling is stuck in Quebec and no one wants to help him out after losing his passport. Thankfully, Ron comes by to pick him up and even though Archer isn’t crazy about him he decides to give it a go. To make sure Archer gets in with no ID, Ron stuffs him in the trunk so as to avoid suspicion. Three hours later Archer’s still back there and it seems like its gonna stay that way until some crazy goods start smashing in the rear of Ron’s Caddy, leaving the guys to wipeout onto the side of the road. Turns out Ron has a shit ton of laundered money in a suitcase Thankfully, a semi-truck picks up Ron and Sterling and that truck features a cross-dressing driver with a shit ton of beer in the back.
Its here we learn that Ron Cadillac isn’t who he says he is.. Rather, he used to run with a local gang that stole cars and Ron seeks to repay those guys for never turning him in. One of the gang members Fat Mike, looks to be the man behind Ron’s troubles. However, that seems to be the least of their troubles when the truck driver takes the guys to a stop with a whole bunch of cross-dressing crazy dudes. With Archer out of bullets, Ron and Sterling have to make a run for it and despite trying to make it rain with money for the trannies, the guys have to latch onto a speeding freight train. At first Archer isnt even sure he wants Ron on his ride, but after talking it through they seem to start getting along better and as such they leap off the side of the train and go to Ron’s dealership where they grab a Caddy and drive Ron with style to an opera with Malory.
This week’s Archer was by FAR best of this young season. Before I go through why, I think something needs to change. Ron Leibman(Ron Cadillac)’s name should be taken off as special guest, and placed in front of the show credits like everyone else. Why? Its because Ron has accidentally placed himself as being an integral part of story lines and as a result he feels like part of the ISIS gang. In other words its not like a Dave Willis thing where yes he is an important character, because Ron so far has been in every episode and therefore his name should be on the show credits.
Ron’s part was so great tonight, as he and Sterling are really starting to bounce off lines to one another like pros and the shit these two say is hilarious. Seriously, I could go through all the one liners, but I would be here all week. I also absolutely LOVED the short but expertly animated car chase scene which still shows off the talents of Floyd County as being one of the premier animation on the planets. No joke, I haven’t seen better chases anywhere else, live-action or otherwise, and this is a guy who has seen a shit ton of Steve McQueen films. The scenes with the trannies were kind of awesome too, as they were totally unexpected as to where I thought the plot was going. Its not all the time that a writer takes you down a road, only to kick you into a river in the opposite direction, but when it does it works every time. Lastly, I was not crazy about the scenes with ISIS as I felt they detracted from the story on more than a few occasion, but overall this ‘Midnight Ron’ is one I’ll be taking again.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
