REVIEW: REGULAR SHOW “THE LONGEST WEEKEND”

This story about love felt like forever…

Spoilers Below

After watching what looked to be the worst movie ever, Starla decides that a little time apart might be good in the long run for her relationship with Muscle Man. As a result, the couple agrees to spend the weekend away from each other which sounds easy except for the fact that Muscles seems to be going nuts! How nuts?? Well, everything in his trailer seems to be ‘transforming’ into Starla nagging him with questions about the strength of their relationship. This causes Muscle Man to flee his house and seek help in the form of three guys who are just chillin’: Mordecai, Rigby, and High Five.

To help, Mordecai and Rigby decide to go over Muscle Man’s house and pretty much make sure this guy has no chance of contacting the girl of his dreams.  Turns out Starla actually wants Muscle Man to call him and as a result SHE starts questioning their relationship despite the fact that this was her idea. Eventually, Muscle Man snaps and he has to be tied down and the entire park staff has to take shifts in watching him to make sure he is ok. He actually does pretty well until 15 minutes from his deadline where he tricks Rigby into letting him go and takes off after Starla.  She actually hears the Muscle dude cryin and despite Margaret and Eileen’s best efforts, a force forms over both of the love birds and they rocket towards each other causing an explosion that leaves behind a huge fuck of a crater.

Awwww, this week’s episode was all about love, but I don’t get the same satisfaction in this story as I would if Margaret and Mordecai were doing something similar. I don’t know, granted Muscle Man is super funny, but I didn’t think this week had any ooooo or ahhhhhh moments that made me want to soak it in. That said, whenever Mordecai and Rigby showed up it was great, like when they are singing the chillin’ song or when they smash up Muscle Man’s communication devices. That said, the laughs were few and far between this week, and as a result it felt like the longest episode.
