REVIEW: ARCHER “The Wind Cries Mary “
Sooooooo, who is Mary?
Spoilers Below
Sterling’s old friend, Lucas Troy, is apparently dead according to Malory but Archer finds out otherwise and tracks him down in what looks to be a frigid cold forest. Lana and Cyril soon follow to find that Archer is at a bed and breakfast with with a maybe gay Lucas. Once Lucas finds about Archer’s tale, he drugs his old friend in hopes of kindling a said gay relationship after he just finished killing off his former agency. With Archer knocked out, Lucas puts cuffs on them then starts up a gun battle with Lana until she runs away looking for new ammo. Archer comes to, gut you can tell he’s a bit woozy as hes trying to figure out why Cyril stripped himself of his clothes!
Turns out, Lana put together a sort of trap to kill Lucas, for real this time. Unfortunately for Archer, Lucas uses this opportunity to tell his old friend a horrible truth…
Apart from the B-plot with the employee reviews, this week’s episode had a bunch of great one-liners that seemed to catch me off guard one after another. My personal favorite being the obvious ode to Predator! That said, I like how characters like Ray and Cyril are becoming more integral to plots but I do think the whole ‘Lana has to go track down Archer to save him from something’ deal is starting to wear a little thin on me as I feel show writer Adam Reed goes to that well a bit too much. We had one last week, and now this week. Moreover, Tim Olyphant was I thought at best decent as Lucas, but certainly not the best guest star ever. Also, is Archer turning into a show that has guest stars every week ala The Simpsons?? We’ll have to check next week to find out.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
