SETH MACFARLANE DROPS BY CLASSROOM AND TALKS UP MOVIE AND CONTEST FOR ACADEMY AWARDS

Seth MacFarlane decided to drop by UCLA to announce a pretty cool contest as part of his hosting of the upcoming Academy Awards. Similar to what mtvU did with Matt Stone and Trey Parker last year, Seth showed up to a class and gave a 40 minute lecture with topics including the potential of a Family Guy feature film and the aforementioned contest where according to the Huff Post the Family Guy creator announced a contest that “invites students to submit videos on the academy’s Facebook page describing how they’ll contribute to the future of film. At least six winners will serve as trophy carriers on the Oscar show, replacing the leggy models who usually perform the duties.”

Evidently, the point of this is to get a younger viewership for the Academy Awards as most if not all people whom watch it are either working in the industry or have no job to go to Monday morning. I, for one, will still probably not watch the Awards because I could care less of whom wins or who wears what. Chances are I’ll be watching ANYTHING else.  For those that do care, the Academy Awards air Feb 24th on a network I don’t care to look up.

The one good thing that DID come out of the onsite is Seth talking about the eventual Family Guy feature film adding “”it will happen at some point.”
