REVIEW: PHINEAS AND FERB “BLACKOUT”

A citywide blackout occurs, and Phineas and Ferb make the most of the opportunity.

Wow, this week we jump right in as Dr. Doof has Perry already in one of his traps! Unfortunately, the evil scientist’s latest -inator knocks out all the power in Danville leaving Phineas, Ferb, Candace, and all of the kids’ friends in the dark.  When Phineas and Ferb tries to turn the power back on,  Candace acts like a jerk and calls her parents of whom are out trying to grab dinner, but she actually gets her phone destroyed in a wood chipper so guess what?? Sweet cheeks has got nada! Later, Candace gets put through a world of mechanical hurt after she tries out her brothers’ new machine, but evidently she was using it wrong anyway. Of course now Candace is PISSED so when her parents get home she opts to show them what’s going but by the time the lights come back on the apparatus is gone, having been taken away by a bunch of dudes on jet packs.

Doof and Perry spend their time together talking about Doof’s big puppy eyes, but once Perry gets out he turns all of the power back on after a bunch of dudes in jet packs helped him out.  After Doof talks to his brother, the jet pack dudes return with a big hulking chunk of metal smashing Doof and his big eyes to bits.

Seeing as how recently I was part of a black out that lasted for two weeks due to a storm, I can honestly say I felt everyone’s pain. Having said that, I think my experience in the dark was probably a little funnier as this week’s episode of Phineas and Ferb was rather mediocre at best. I liked the concept of the entire episode being in the dark, but without any lights on it was difficult to find anything novel that Phineas and Ferb were doing, with the only bright spot being Candace’s endless tirade against her maniacal brothers. The Doof and Perry plot was all sorts of lame, although it was humorous seeing Major Monogram’s eyes on the really small watch of Perry, although inaccurate, was a nice touch. We’ve got TWO new episodes next week, let’s hope we get something better.
