REVIEW: FISH HOOKS ”Fuddy Duddy Study Buddy”

Oscar and Shellsea are paired for a science-fair project, and they disagree about everything. Meanwhile, Milo and Bea genetically modify an apple.

Spoilers Below

Mr. Baldwin assigns a new science project during class and even though at first he wanted to let everyone choose partners, he quickly changes his mind and pairs up Bea with Milo and Shelsea with Oscar. Bea and Milo seem to be hitting off just fine in their partnership, but Oscar and Shelsea? Not so much. Turns out Shelsea isn’t really taking her grades as seriously as Oscar is for his and is concerned that with the project being due the next day, Shelsea might not take the project seriously and thereby let him fail! Oscar actually has to go over and drag Shelsea from a dance party, and bring her back to his place where clearly we can see Bea and Milo are doing just fine as their project certainly has um, legs.

Oscar takes Shelsea down to his secret lair where they get into this big argument and pretty much ruins the partnership. Trouble strikes when Milo and Bea are getting chased downtown by a big huge apple with legs. As luck would have it, Shelsea has the solution to stop the monster! Terrible pop music!! The monster gets destroyed so Milo and Bea have to do a different project, while Shelsea and Oscar show off their own project and gets an ‘A+’!

A rather entertaining week of Fish Hooks! Normally, when I see science projects in cartoons they usually are all the same, but these writers sure new how to tell normal to take a hike! I mean where else are you going to see a giant apple with legs roaring around town causing all sorts of destruction?? Probably nowhere, and that’s the real strength of Fish Hooks as guys like Alex Hirsch sure no how to reach the outer limits and bring in concepts and ideas that are both completely relevant to the series all the meanwhile keeping the plots fresh and palatable to teenagers.
