SECRET SANTA

Planet Express is sent to Neptune in an attempt to shut down Santa’s naughty or nice system which leads to the capture of Fry, Bender, Leela, and Zoidberg by a Neptonian named Wikky. Wikky is not only the snack of Zoidberg’s dreams, but he also is in charge of recording all the naughty things everyone on Earth has ever done. Pretty much, this little douche wants to frame the Express crew in trying to kill Robot Santa so that he can lead a coup against the big bastard and take over all of his evil operations. When Robot-Santa hears about this he actually gives Wikky a promotion, treats the Express crew to a hearty meal, and proceeds to chase after them with a flame thrower!

In an attempt to try and signal for help using the nearest workstation, Fry mistakenly sends out a mass email that contained Santa’s secret dark files, giving them instead to  everyone living on Planet Earth!  Robot Santa agrees to team up with the Express crew in blasting their respective space-traveling vehicles, to blast a way back to Earth to stop the email from sending. Once they get to Earth, the Professor seamlessly uses Bender’s transmitter to stop the email blast. Robot Santa leaves, but claims that if he sees anyone on Neptune again…the crew is FINISHED!

What was strange about this issue is that I though from the start of reading it we were going to be getting some sort of running gag about online videos that would’ve been cliched but dotted with cutaway gags that were really funny. Seriously, I would say the first 5 or 6 pages are really good for gags, but then we got into the main plot which was certainly entertaining, but I felt like a kid who just got his toy taken away. Surprisingly I was having a lot of fun with the videos plot and that I almost wanted to see it keep going, but that doesn’t mean the Robot-Santa story was bad, just that it was underwhelming when compared to the earlier readings.
