REVIEW: BRICKLEBERRY “HELLO DOTTIE”

The rangers begin making demands when they’re dissatisfied with their working conditions at the park, so Woody decides to outsource their positions to people in India.

Spoilers Below

The employees at Brickleberry National Park are fed up with having so many cutbacks that it makes the job unbearable. Everything from shoddy break rooms to no healthcare are on the table and the rangers are looking for a leader. Granted, Steve is the union rep but as it turns out whenever he confronts Woodie about asking for better working conditions, he usually puts his tail between his legs and walks away. To battle back against all of the employee contention, Woodie decides to out source the park ranger jobs to three robots all of whom are video skype-d in to provide a customer service representative that can work for nothing and put in long hours. As such, the employees quit with the exception of Steve who definitely can’t leave from the safe confines of the park no matter what.

At first Steve isn’t all too crazy, but that changes pretty quick when he is introduced to Dottie, one of the outsourced employee robots that seems to take a liking to the ranger of the month. While all of this is going down, Connie, Denzel, and Ethel are all downtown trying to find jobs in a down economy but to no avail. Thankfully, the trio runs into a Titty Bar that needs a new lady and evidently Connie is exactly the girl they are looking for along with Denzel as the new DJ and Ethel as the janitor. Eventually, Malloy convinces some of the robots to go to the Titty Bar cuz that’s the American way and they learn all the joys of flashing cash for smelly prizes .

Things start to head downward at the park, as some of the robots are beginning to act incompetent because of Malloy or in Dottie’s case trying to be in a sexual recourse with Steve which is then thwarted by Woodie. As a result, Dottie no longer works as one of the park rangers and yes you can tell the manager of the park is getting all sorts of pissed off. Back at the titty bar, it looks as though the ex-rangers are starting to settle into their new gigs, with Denzel loving all the attention he gets from spittin’ on the mic, and with Connie being a fan favorite dancer among the locals and making tons of cash for the bar. With all the extra attention, Connie even starts to get all full of herself  but soon her talents start to come up a little short and as such Connie is no longer the bell of this hick ball.

After losing the love his life, Steve decides to leave the park and fly to India to get her back but when he meets her she isn’t exactly the way he imagined and almost immediately goes home. Connie, Denzel, and Ethel get fired from their job at the bar which is great because the robots aren’t working out to well and Woodie fires them and then rehires everyone including Steve. But what happened to the robots? Well, they got new jobs too.

We’ve all seen outsourcing jokes before but this week’s episode of Brickleberry put a nice robotic-wheel spin on the premise. One of the things I really am starting to like about the show is the fact the writers could have just as easily written Daniel Tosh in being the center of attention for every plot every week, but really he is an outstanding ensemble cast member that shows up to help provide a little variety and cause trouble in the process. Also, the titty bar was really great with my personal favorite touch being all the different dancers we meet that are crack addicts, mommies, and girls who have talents of the vaginal variety. Also, who would have EVER thought of the concept of hiring robots with Indian video feeds, only to have Steve try and fuck one of them…pure genius! Throw in a quick story line of Connie acting like she’s the greatest stripper ever and this week’s episode of Brickleberry was one for the books
