REVIEW: THE LOONEY TUNES SHOW “BOBCATS ON THREE!”

In the Season 2 opener, Daffy takes a job coaching  a water-polo team despite not understanding the game or knowing how to swim. Meanwhile, Bugs goes wild for Porky’s cooking and packs on the pounds.

Daffy starts up a water polo team but you can tell he has not a clue what he’s doing. For starters, he throws a bunch of horses into the pool and starts there. The Duck doesn’t even know how to swim, and despite Porky’s what if scenarios Daffy refuses to listen or I mean ‘hear’.  No surprise, Daffy’s team loses the first game and as such blames himself at first…except when he slams one of the team mates and switches out the goalie. Next game same thing…yep and even the next game. Finally, Daffy decides to put in Gossimer aka ‘Emily’ as the goalie and as it turns out she’s really good at polo and even leads the Bobcats to the championship.Unfortunately, during the last game Emily refuses to play goalie and the Bobcats lose the ‘ship. But, who cares?? Polo is stupid!

Meanwhile, Bugs is crazy about Porky’s sweet home cookin’ namely all of the deserts and names him to be the caterer for a party that he is putting together. However, on the day of the party Bart keeps eating everything in sight, but when the Gophers try to get in on the action Bugs books a SECOND party. Everyone’s been trying to warn Bugs too because he’s getting a big gut and its becoming a noticeable attribute around town. Obviously, the second party is BS because Bugs just booked it so he can eat more. The real problem here is after all of the unhealthy eating, Bugs is HUGE and while he’s sitting pool side for the championship he jumps in the pool to save Daffy from almost drowning!

Laser Beam

The Looney Tnnes Show is back but something’s missing here. How is it that both Daffy AND Bugs are given pretty much identical premises? The show comes off as a lame attempt at trying to be Beavis and Butthead for kids but with morals at the end that are so formulaic and forced it makes me want to gag. That said, the Laser Beam song as done by Marty the Martian was really funny, and had more merit too it than the main hand hammed plots.
