REVIEW: CRASH CANYON “HEAVYWEIGHT VAMP”

When Jake returns from school with injuries inflicted by Vaughn Manderbelt, an enraged Sheila heads to the Manderbelt home, looking for a fight.

This week, the Wendell kids are out to make a few dollars in “Heavyweight Vamp”. After Jake receives a black eye (his own fault) and blames Vaughn, Norm confronts the Manderbelts and threatens to sue. Jake comes up with the bright idea to organize a boxing match between the two (with the arrangement of a lucrative outcome for himself). Norm complies and begins his training, including sparring with and getting knocked out by, a cuckoo clock

On fight night, Reginald sends in Bjorn, his Norwegian servant. Just imagine Professor Fink taking on Karl, the giant blond goon from Die Hard, before placing any wages. Like a reverse “Homer They Fall”, in which Norm throws down until he runs out of juice before Bjorn even flinches. Jake then convinces Reginald to throw the fight for a handful of tees. This then sends Jake and Norm into a “fight throwing rampage”, where all of Norm’s opponents are taking falls for a share of the wages. Roxy comes up with a plan herself, manipulating her father’s opponents into sharing their tees with her, in order to save up for noise-canceling headphones. Norm, oblivious to Jake’s plan, goes around the canyon hitting anyone who doesn’t abide by his wishes until he eventually meets his match.

This episode had a few more laughs than usual, mostly drawing from pop culture as there were plenty of jokes concerning celebrities like Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, and Boy George.
