English Dub Review: 2.5 Dimensional Seduction “Your Way, My Way”

Overview:

Aria certainly has potential, but her costume seriously lacks substance. Now, it’s up to the Manga Club to give her a crash course in cosplay and all things otaku!

Our Take:

As I was looking back over the past episodes of this series, I became torn because on one hand, I remember the beginning, and I loved the character of Mikari, but she has barely been in the show after episode three. At this point, I have doubts that she’s going to have any significant impact on the rest of the season because it seems like the arc for Aria is going to be decently sized. Now, on the other hand, this episode endeared Aria to me.

Aria doesn’t seem like the typical person who would enjoy cosplay. She has little to no anime or manga knowledge, and doesn’t seem overly interested in it. So, of course, everyone in the Manga Club decides to sit her down and make her binge-watch a ton of anime. She became an instant fan and found a character she wanted to cosplay as, but while doing some research, Noa discovered that Aria had been on a cosplay risers list while cosplaying an obscure character from a cancelled manga.

Turns out the character that Aria was cosplaying was from a manga that her father had written, and it got cancelled after only ten chapters. I think we are going to get emotional in the next few episodes, and I think Aria is going to be a more enjoyable character than I originally thought.
