REVIEW REWIND: BLACK DYNAMITE “Trouble on Puppet Street”

Black Dynamite is assigned to stop a rogue educational show puppet, That Frog Kurtis, from executing his diabolical plan of manipulating children on national television.

Black Dynamite always gets his way, thats right if he wants a secret chicken recipe he’s gonna get it!  While he’s um negotiating, he jumps out of the bed completely naked, and launches himself into a copter being driven by Dennis Flynn…while still naked. Its here Black is told about long time children’s show host Frog Kurtis has gone rogue and is going nuts.   It’s here we learn about Black’s upbringing which causes him to go  to Puppet Street with the other Whorephanage crew like Cream Corn, Bullhorn, and Honey Bee.

One might think that Puppet Street sounds like a nice place, but instead the street is filled with furry crime that likes to back talk and soon the whole crew gets rounded up by Frog’s minions. Worst yet, Frog’s got a bunch of underaged pro’s but we also learn what the evil puppet has been up to the fast few years and worse yet why he is acting like a douche. Frog decides to broadcast a special show with an audience filled with gun-toting children but thankfully Black Dynamite gets out and smashes some cotton! Black later confronts Frog and punishes him for his sins  once and for all.

This is the one that started it all. Black Dynamite kicks off its life with a blaxpoitation take on Kermit the Frog and all those Muppets on Sesame Street. Imagine if they went bad and decided to enslave kids? Welp,, that’s exactly what Carl Jones is thinking and with the powers of animation doing stories like this are easier to do, but without sacrificing the lewd, crude, and crazy humor that the film was based on. All your favorite characters from the movie are here too including Honey Bee, Cream Corn, Bullhorn, and others all of whom have been reprised by their live action counterparts to help give us a slamming good time worthy of the 30 minute pickup.
