REVIEW: FUGGET ABOUT IT “SCREW YOU MR. WONDERFUL”

Powerful New York mob boss Jimmy Falcone enters the Witness Protection Program and brings his family — wife Cookie, daughters Theresa and Gina, son Anthony, and Uncle Cheech — along for the adventure of a lifetime. Far from New York’s busy streets, the Falcone family arrives in the peaceful town of Oakville, where the pace is far slower and Jimmy doesn’t always get his way.

This week’s episode sheds a brighter light on the events that took place before Jimmy threw Don Gambini from his 19^th floor suite.

After a plea to spare Uncle Cheech’s life, and after saving Gambini from several potential life-threatening accidents, Jimmy eventually throws Gambini out the window after complimenting “what a piece of ass” Jimmy’s daughter Theresa is – an indicator of what one of this episode’s themes is, fatherhood. Fast forward to the present; Jimmy is giving Petey driving lessons, and there are plenty of gangster stereotypes that unfold in this scene, including hotwiring a car and referencing getaway driving.

Petey then accidentally backs into millionaire Richard Wheatthin (voiced by guest star Alan Thicke, from TV’s Growing Pains), a computer genius, inventor, world-renowned wildlife photographer and licensed manicurist. Petey is a big fan of Richard’s, and Richard takes an immediate liking to Petey. The millionaire eventually becomes a second father figure to Petey. Due to Jimmy’s ignorance, he doesn’t mind not having to do father things with his son.

Meanwhile, Cookie is having a nude statue put on her lawn, much to RCMP Special Agent McCool’s discretion.Like a desperate housewife, Cookie makes some sexual advances on the Mountie. Although McCool’s reaction comes across as somewhat inept, like he’s never received a female’s attention before, or he is too much in love with his status as a boy scout law enforcer.

This could be the birth of a new character relation for the remainder of the season, as it would be interesting to see Jimmy’s response, if he ever found out.And Cookie isn’t the only female Falcone looking for “bones”. After learning of Canada’s Child Tax Benefit, Gina devises a plan to scam social welfare by influencing Theresa to pretend she is Gina’s mother. Theresa is thrilled to put her acting skills to work.

It unfolds into a hilarious take on the welfare screening process and recipient corruption. Elsewhere, Richard realizes that Jimmy McDougal is the real Falcone. He’s a big fan of true crime and wants to befriend Jimmy. Unfortunately, the ex-mobster is stuck between whacking Richard or moving farther north, and the latter seems out of the question.

Jimmy then takes Richard to a secluded location, ready to commit a murder until apparitions of his family appear as his conscience, whom are all playing out there clichés in the flashes. So does Jimmy whack the entrepreneur? The climax unfolds into a hilarious outcome that will keep the “McDougals” in Vagina (yes, Jimmy still mispronounces “Regina”), Saskatchewan. For now.
