REVIEW: AQUA SOMETHING YOU KNOW WHATEVER “THE GRANITE FAMILY”

A sitcom remake goes bad.

Spoilers Below

“The Granite Family” is in constant reruns and as a result Master Shake wants to bring it back. Or better yet! Experience it first hand. To do that he heads off to Washington D.C., and attends a White House tour where somehow he breaks into the Oval Office and sets off a bunch of nukes towards Russia. If you have ever seen any of the Terminators you know what happens next, as after Shake sets off the American nukes, other countries respond with nukes of their own and we are in a nuclear fallout.

Meanwhile, the whole gang is holed up in Carl’s underground bomb shelter where Frylock continues to show off his time travelling thong underpants. Eventually, Shake decides to go up onto the surface where he is greeted by just one time-traveling fell Mr. Time Warner and his pet FOX. Warner’s job is to tell Shake about “The Granite Family” reboot that is going ahead of schedule with ‘Fox” on board to greenlight it. Thankfully, Master goes back in time to the precise moment of which he was going to destroy the world and stops himself from doing so. Or does he???

In what was the Aqua producers complete fuck you to mainstream TV and most notably Seth MacFarlane wanting to bring back The Flintstones (which sounds like its not happening) we get an awesome premise but not a lot of substance with the majority of the episode taking place under ground with the normal Aqua hi-jinks. There’s nothing wrong with that but with the set up and trailers and what not I thought we were going to get something that really drives the point home. However, not to say we weren’t without a few zingers over to FOX animated television(which were awesome) but overall a rather standard episode of Aqua Teen.
