ITS WEBS DAY!! OISHI HIGH SCHOOL BATTLE

That’s right kids, its Webs Day! And this week we take a look at a new offering from Shut Up! Cartoons called Oishi High School Battle. Check out the review after the jump!

Spoilers Below

So, question time, ladies and gentlemen.  What do you get, when you mash up a super-cute, demon slaying, anime girl, and what can be passed for a spoof of Degrassi?  Well, let me tell you.  The newest offering from Shut Up Cartoons, Oishi High School Battle #1, that’s what!  So, the story sets up with the theme showing the main character, Oishi, is apparently daughter of an awful demon slayer.  Well, that’s all I needed for a set up.  Oh, wait.  I forgot something…  Noodles, Oishi’s dog, steals the souls (or lifeforce, or whatever anime is calling it these days) of whoever pets him.  As seen within the first 5 seconds of the story.

You can tell that there’s a heavy anime influence (in case the wide-eyed, big breasted female form used wasn’t enough…) just by the first attack used.  Any girl that says, “Battle Breast, engage!” to me, is almost a shoe-in.  As the story progresses  we get three jocks who all have been drooling over Oishi finally work up the courage to make a move.  One of the guys named Raif’s, gets his first a animated kunai drawn on him where in case ,if you are wondering, doesn’t happen in real life.  In order to win over Oishi, Raif has to pass a test. His mission?  He needs to find higher ground, rip his shirt off, and proclaim his desires for Oishi.  S

Then Raif has to defeat Oishi’s boyfriend, Mucasance  whom declares open combat in whatever arena Raif chooses.  Raif decides to go with Dance Dance Super Mega Mega Dance but of course he loses big time and is eaten.

Ok, so this was not what I expected because guess what?? Oishi High School Battle is hilarious!  I mean, who else would think a mash up of a super cute demon slaying anime girl, and a Degrassi rip off that would inherently work?   The stereotypes on both ends complemented each other very well and its definitely a worthy recommendation.
