BREAKING BART

Lisa is looking to raise a bunch of money so that she can go away for the Mathlympics, however the school(like usual) is broke so she hears about an underground math club where contestants battle it out to see who is a numbers whiz. Of course, after a number of rounds Lisa gets all the way to the top but she begins to get really sleepy due to all the late nights. Because, of all the late nights Lisa starts seeing a double of herself that keeps trying to talk her into being a mean bitch. Lisa eventually quits and gets better but she hasn’t raised all the money to get to her big competition until…

Back at the Kwik-E-Mart Bart has to get a job because he kind of blew up the Squishee machine and left a big mess. At first everything’s bad ass as   Bart makes a bunch of changes that beings to offer huge profit margins for the store. However, after working for about 100 hours straight with no sleep, Apu fires him so that the long time manager can keep his job and more importantly so Bart can get some sleep. Due to all the hours he worked, not only does Bart pay off the damage he has done but he gets a bonus check that affords Lisa the opportunity to go to her Math competition…which is double booked with a monster truck jam!

This month’s issue of Simpsons Comics is the best one of the year so far. Early on there were a lot of cutaway gags that provided for some mix up and I really loved the A and B plots featuring Bart and Lisa’s story. The issue was scripted so well what with both lead characters working really hard to get something they want only to be sleepy near the end but still kind of be there or each other and actually make it work. The panels were colored beautifully with the expertly crafted stencils that is right on par with the show. Definitely worth a buy!
