‘THE SIMPSONS VS THE APOCALYPSE’…YEP SOMEONE DID IT!
I’m not one for plays or musicals but when I heard about this venture I had to write about it because I think it was a pretty novel take on The Simpsons. Evidently, playwrights Anne Washburn and Michael Friedman were featured in an interview with TheaterMania where they did just that. In their new play “Mr. Burns” they imagine a world where everything goes to hell but we would still have The Simpsons…
In working on the piece, Washburn ultimately realized that one of The Simpsons’ major contributions to the cultural conversation is its rabid fandom. “No matter how you reduce the population,” she says, “you’d still have people who’d be able to recreate The Simpsons.”
Fuck yea it would! I would totally go see this deal if it weren’t six hours away from me. The curtains open on May 28th at Washington D.C.’s Woolly Mammoth Theatre
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
