REVIEW: FAMILY GUY “Internal Affairs”

Then Joe cheats on the cheating Bonnie; and it’s Peter vs. the angry chicken (again).

Spoilers Below

Joe is the talk of the town as he gets a big cocaine bust that gets a bunch of local coverage and his police chief is throwing  a big party. Its right here we get a big huge shit kickin chicken fight that I’m not even going to detail as you should just watch it because its easily the best one. Later, Joe tries to get Bonnie to go to the Police gala celebrating Joe’s big achievement but she acts like a bitch and decides not to leaving Joe to go with Peter and Quagmire. While there, Joe meets a girl named Norah who sees Joe as a figure and even goes as far as to start making out with him.

Of course Peter and Quagmire convince Joe to have sex with Norah as a way of getting back at Bonnie for her past indiscretions. At first Joe doesn’t think its a great idea but after a rousing round of voices in his head he takes Norah into the handicap stalls and has his way with her. Soon, the Griffins come over for Joe’s son Kevin’s birthday party. Joe decides to take Quagmire and Peter upstairs in the baby room to tell his pals what happened but unbeknownst to them there was a baby monitor in the room relaying the entire conversation back to Bonnie which causes a big argument followed by divorce threats. Felling bad about her husband basically ruining Joe and Bonnie’s marriage, Lois decides to setup a date where Bonnie and Joe first met with Toto’s “Africa” playing at a strip club. Eventually, Joe and Bonnie show up and realize that there love is still strong for each other and as a result they call off the divorce.

Anyone who thinks Family Guy isn’t as good now as it was when it first started simply does not get it. Here we got two back to back episodes of Family Guy showing off some of the best talent in the industry in a number of different ways. If you want gag humor, its there, if you want great story telling, its there, if you want Peter to keep fighting the chicken, it happened this week. The writers and producers of Family Guy have shown that they can create great television without Seth MacFarlane spot checking everything and as a result they make an animated series that still stands the test of time. If you don’t believe me just dial one of the 10 different networks that show Family Guy or check out the ratings because this show still has it. Along with the Simpsons, Family Guy is part of a duo that create the best tandem in animated television. Granted, this week’s plot wasn’t THE most original story ever as its been a bunch of times on a number of romantic comedy films, but if we are now getting to the point where we are not comparing animated shows to other TV programs and instead are comparing them to feature films, well then that just shows another class all its own. In 10 seasons, Family Guy has broken the rules, launched the career of one of Hollywood’s brightest minds, and has come back from the dead…so yea anyone out there thinking this show doesn’t have what it takes guess what…it does!
