REVIEW: UNSUPERVISED “Jesse Judge Lawncare Incorporated”
Guest Cast Alan Dale: Sid Maria Bamford: Megan’s Mom
Spoilers Below
Only a week after Martin Luther King Day, Gary and Joel are opening up their gross-ass pool for the spring season. To help ’em lift a big ol’ tree out of the pool they enlist the help of landscape artist Jesse Judge. However, its Jesse who does the enlisting as he hires up Gary and Joel to work for him having been inspired by his sweet whip and pockets full of cash. But, Joel gets cut after the first round of clippin’ due to his short stature and weak arms.
Gary and Jesse’s first job together is Meg’s house where we learn she gets an allowance in exchange for her freedom by way of her parents. Eventually, Joel and Sid are able to get the yard and pool in order and as a result plan a big ass pool bash to celebrate, but guess what? Gary’s gotta work. Why? Because, he makes bank, Jesse acts as a mentor, and as a result, Gary has no time for games and pisses off Joel in the process. Thankfully, Gary comes around and ditches the “American Dream” in favor of hanging out with his homies without a care in the world except for the fact that his client’s lawn is now ruined because of Joel and Sid in an attempt to free Gary and Jesse of their obligations.
A MUCH better effort than last week, even with the timeline screw up. Charlie Day was hysterical as a different kind of green man, landscapist Jesse, as he fit in with the guys really well and I would certainly love to see him again. Not gonna lie, I kind of empathize with Darius on the whole “don’t take the shirt off” stance. I also kind of like this whole uncharted territory of Gary and Joel disagreeing on things, as this was one of the few times they broke up enough to kind of go their separate ways, reaffirming that Gary is probably the more mature of the duo. One of the few gripes I had with this week was NO RUSS! How can you have no Russ? He’s just so damn lovable, and I felt we(the viewers) built this relationship with him…but what are you gonna do? I do think this is a good show overall, and even though renewal isn’t looking so great right now, maybe we should cherish as much time as we can with these characters as who knows if we will get them back(hoping we do!)
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
