If there is one thing we know about Family Guy its that Stewie loves his gadgets. This time he hooks up Peter, Brian, Joe, and Quagmire up to a dream sequence to once and for all prove that Brian and Peter aren’t really friends, rather Peter is the master and Brian is just property despite the fact that the two just came back from a rousing game of laser tag where Peter even got his named mentioned in the Laser Tag Times for “killing” all his enemies.
In this alternate universe, Peter, Brian, Joe, and Quagmire have no idea who each other are but decide to work together as they are the only four people left in Quahog in what looks to be a post-apocalyptic scenario. Eventually, the guys find a smashed car(registered in Peter’s name) up against a street lamp, helping them come to the conclusion that they were involved in a serious accident. Using the address they find on Peter’s registration, everyone is pretty much able to find out where they live which normally would put everyone at ease, but really creates more questions especially Brian who believes he is Quagmire’s dog.
Everyone decides to meet up, but while Peter is occupied, the rest of the guys notice the Laser Tag Times news article hanging on the wall claiming that he “killed” everyone. After seeing this, they think Peter is the reason that they are in this mess and plan to kill him. However, during Brian’s role in the plan, he starts having second thoughts at killing a guy who he thinks is really his best friend, so instead Brian tries to save Peter, even to the point of jumping in front of a shotgun blast! Its here Brian wakes up on a table and Stewie explains the whole situation, and thus is proven wrong about Peter and Brian’s friendship.
What I think I liked about this episode most is that it featured a tale reminiscent of a “Brian & Stewie” type episode like “Back to the Pilot” or “Multi-verse” but instead featured everyone else so it was kind of like a role reversal for everyone except Brian, who I thought was going to be pissed when he woke up, but is probably used to Stewie’s machines by now. I also really liked the 28 Days Later vibe I was getting as the alternate universe was unfolding, even though there weren’t any zombies(I’ve got Ugly Americans for that anyway). Great episode, and written by David A. Goodman no less, of whom I thought was no longer with Family Guy given his prior obligations with the failed Allen Gregory. And yes, he’s still got it.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
