2012 EDITOR’S CHOICE AWARDS WINNER ANNOUNCED FOR ‘BEST ANIMATED SERIES OF THE YEAR’
So for the past couple of days we’ve gone through the entire list of the best animated television shows of 2012 and we are now at the number 1 spot. I’ll tell you who it is if you can answer this question, “Tell me, which hand to you fret with??
Brendon Small has had a hell of a 2012 has he not?? Earlier in the year he releases Galaktikon, of which he has to do a ton or interviews for, then he does a season of Metalocalypse, of which he does a bunch of interviews for, then he starts fooling around with standup comedy again, in which he has mentioned in his bunch of interviews, then just recently he wraps up a North American tour for Dethklok as promotion for an album that had just released a couple of months before, and yea he did a bunch of interviews for that. With all this Brendon Small going around, one might think he would have just mailed it in in terms of his latest season of Metalocalypse, instead he pushes forth a moment in animated history that should never be forgotten.
Metalocalypse, for those whom don’t know, is an animated series about a band named Dethklok of whom accounts for the 7th largest economy on Earth. Season 4 certainly had its challenges, as after a Season 3 which saw the series turn in 30 minute episodes to mixed results, Metalocalypse would later give Adult Swim 10-15 minute episodes for Season 4 that when put together, tells a story that would have made J.R.R. Tolkien crap his pants. Usually the episodes are directed and written by Brendon Small and with that the series had certainly matured to the point where it became the new standard on how animated television should be. Episodes like “Dethcamp” and “Church of the Black Klok” advanced the genre of adult animated television with emotionally moving story-telling that left us questions of not disappointment, but yearning for more. In film, I’ve always felt that music helped tell stories, a concept that I don’t think has quite reached television and certainly hasn’t reached animated television….until now. Similar in a sense to how Hans Zimmer composes unforgettable scores for Inception or Dark Knight, Brendon Small does the same with Dethklok, where music becomes PART of the story, not just happenstance. Throw in guest vocal contributions this past season from Janeane Garofalo, Patton Oswalt, and Jon fucking Hamm, Brendon Small has put together a season of television that helps keep the show at its benchmark.
With Season 5 of Metalocalypse currently in production, one can’t help but be overly excited about what’s next.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
