Review: The Cleveland Show “Skip Day”

It’s “skip day” at Cleveland Jr.’s school and everyone skips school—except for Cleveland Jr. This embarrasses his dad. Meanwhile, Rallo gets in a hit-and-run accident with Kendra, who’s on her scooter. Michael McDonald has a voice cameo as himself.

When the Principal holds an assembly scolding all the kids and teachers for skipping class during the annual “Skip Day”, we find out Cleveland Jr., is the only one who DOESN’T skip. This infuriates Cleveland. Its here that Cleveland is introduced to man’s favorite vice! BOOZE! But that all goes out the window after a near-death experience. But, as it turns out Cleveland Jr., is actually stronger than his dad and continually beats the shit out of him. This strains the relationship to the point where Cleveland Jr., pretends that his dead kicks the shit out of him which of course alerts the authorities and has him taken away.  As such, Junior decides to break his dad out of jail in a good ol-fashioned chase.

Rallo goes off ride Big Wheelin’ until he slams into Kendra and knocks over her Hover round and her out cold! She later gets crane-lifted to a hospital. Kendra’s husband is out for blood and as such, Rallo needs to ditch his Big Wheel. But, after he tries to frame Hope, he feels guilty and now they need to save the dude from crashing and burning in his stupid bike.

This was the best episode of Cleveland Show all year. Even with the obvious flubs with a more Family Guy episode( cutaways, and a plot that was obviously lifted from the aforementioned series) but none of that mattered because the jokes were firing and the dialogue was sound. My personal favorite part was when Jr frames is dad on the whole child abuse deal.
