Bongo Comics Review: Bart Simpsons #64
Mrs. Krabappel gives Bart a deceptively easy assignment; The Simpsons win a trip to Mexico and get lost in the jungle; and Bart decides to be a model citizen for a day, with devastating results!
To start of this month’s issue of Bart Simpson, we get Model Citizen Simpson where after 25 seasons Bart decides to turn over a new leaf in his ridicule of his typical victims ala Skinner. And early one he has everyone fooled, from his teachers, lunchlady, and Groundskeeper Willie! However, all the confusion isn’t just at school as both Marge and Lisa are questioning Bart’s weird behavior. It’s this same behavior that causes Skinner to find new addictions at the Quik-E-Mart! And what do addictions do? COST MONEY! But, will Bart ever be the same?
Bart Simpson in an Easy Assignment sees Ms. Krabappel give Bart, well a super easy assignment! All he has to do for Geometry is bring in a cube, problem is he has no idea what a cube is. Otto offers to ummmm help and Bart acts oblivious to his surroundings as in just about every frame we see examples of cubes but to no avail. Soon everyone’s on the job first Homer, then Professor Frink, and the one and only Stephen Hawking! Everyone cept Bart who just goes upstairs to watch TV. Obviously, all this hard work ends up with no reward!
Viva La Bart has Bart and Homer going to Mexico as a result of winning a TV-advertised give-a-way. But, like anything Mexican, you probably shouldn’t trust it because as soon as they get there the trip isn’t nearly as good as advertised and Bart ends up getting kidnapped by a local Indian tribe. The tribe, for some reason, think Bart is some sort of deity and begin to worship him. Soon enough, the tribe finds Homer too, and want to sacrifice him but not before Bart relents and the local people turn on him!
Overall, this was a great read this month and I’m starting to enjoy the mix in different art styles in the Bart issues as they seem to be a bit more original than the Simpsons comics. The last story Viva La Bart was a bit cliched and have seen the EXACT same story with Pirates of the Caribbean 2, South Park, and Family Guy.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
