ITS WEBS DAY!! “THE LEBRONS”, “THE HIT SQUAD”, AND “GAME PROGRAM ATTACK”

Yea I know, we didn’t do one last week but we had a lot going on with all of the Upfront presentations so here it is! Another edition of “Webs Day” and this week we feature two shorts that we talked about today PLUS Mondo’s all new Game Program Attack. Which is the better 8-bit animated effort? Well you will just have to jump to find out!

 Game Program Attack “Minecraft”

The premier episode follows a couple of 8-bit adventurers looking to find fortune by digging underground. During their quest they each stumble onto a bunch of doors with different rooms featuring awesomeness or not-so-awesomeness. Its hysterical too, as a dude wearing a yellow hat finds gold and a room full of boobies while the green hat finds zombies and another room with a green whore. Yes, I know it seems like everyone is doing the 8-bit thing as of late, but this one’s pretty damn funny!

The Lebrons Pilot Episode

Yea I know, this is an old one but with the recent announcement of a season 2, I wanted to talk a bit more about it. The Lebrons is an animated web series all about NBA superstar and reigning MVP Lebron James as we see him voice a number of different characters. The animation itself does remind me quite a bit of The Boondocks, but the series seems like its more geared towards kids, young adults, and fans of the Miami Heat. The animation looks real good, the cast is funny even if the script isn’t all that, and no this does not make me a Heat fan.

The Hit Squad “The Beginning of the End”

Hit Squad is another pixel-ated animated web-series styled in the 8-it format but directed a bit differently as there’s a bit more of a zoom in focus on the characters more so than you would see on something like Code Monkeys. The actors are good and the plot is funny but I think it fails to live up to the tagline Family Guy meets Nintendo mainly because its nowhere near as offensive or over the top. Here’s hoping the dialogue improves because I do think there is something here.
