Tim Meadows Attachment To New ABC Pilot Doesn’t Bode Well For “Zorn” Renewal

Yep…that guy on the far right.

Deadline is reporting that Tim Meadows has been cast in a pretty big role as part of a new ABC pilot TV series that would serve as a spin-off of the monster-comedy hit The Goldbergs.

According to the article:

The comedy centers on Lucy Winston (Long) a single mother of three and “legit cool.” She’s worked at the same dead end job for the last 7 years, but she needs a better life for her children, who are getting older and inching towards trouble. After begging her brother, Andre Glascott (Meadows), for a job at the Academy he runs (free tuition for three included), Lucy and her kids all have to adjust to a new life in a new school — but schools are somewhat the same all over the country, and many of the same problems (cliques, status, sports, substance abuse) haunt the hallowed halls of the William Penn Academy as in any other school in America (though it’s blessedly free of metal detectors).

Our Take

That’s a pretty major part for Meadows who was undoubtedly the breakout star of Son of Zorn which just finished its first season on FOX. Furthermore, when an actor starts showing up in pilots for different TV shows on a rival network, it usually means the one he was on could very well be in trouble in terms of getting a renewal. It’s not always 100%, but more often than not, that is the case.

Tim Meadows played the role of “Craig”, the new love interest of Zorn’s ex-wife “Edie” played by Cheryl Hines. We haven’t heard officially if Zorn is dead or not, but this news doesn’t help.
