Shorts Review: Han ALWAYS Shoots First

han-shoots-first

Even casual Star Wars fans are likely aware of the debate regarding whether Han Solo or Greedo fired first in A New Hope’s Cantina scene. However, real fans know there’s no question: Han shot first. The 1977 film showed it, the original script said it, and even Harrison Ford backed it. Yes, George Lucas has tried to convince audiences that Han is not a cold-blooded killer (although, if he had waited a few more seconds Solo would have gained an extra hole in his noggin) and the director even changed the 1997 film (and later versions) to reflect this – but we’re not buying it.

As the good folks at Dorkly showed in their minute-long 8-bit animation clip, Han Solo shot first, and always shoots first, because that’s just the kind of dude he is. In fact, according to them, Greedo didn’t even finish his last sentence, and Han also added a few extra shots at the end as well. He is also shown shooting Lando Calrissian before he had a chance to double-cross his friends, and even gunning down some Ewoks and scout & storm troopers as well.

Add some colorful language to this story, and you’ve got a surprisingly funny, extremely short clip guaranteed to amuse & entertain fans of Star Wars, parodies, old school animation, and shenanigans in general. Besides, it makes a solid point and straightens out a seemingly-endless argument.

So shove that in your pipe blaster pistol and smoke it someone.
