Review: We Bare Bears “Ice Cave”

“Hail to the King”

Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)

The episode starts off when The Bears & Charlie play a board game called “Ice Mountain” where Charlie wins and attains “King Status” until Ralph (Voiced by John DiMaggio) barges in to see what they’re up to. Ice Bear kicks him out for going too far when he makes a mess of the board game while behaving like a contemptuous fratboy.

The next day, the bears & Charlie wake up to discover the cave is now covered in ice due to Ralph’s tampering with the air conditioner. He then sits on top of his throne to establish his immature dominance over everyone while Ice Bear is frozen in a bathtub. Eventually, Charlie gets him out in a humorous scene but ends up having to stand up to Ralph when Ice Bear is stuck in a booby trap. The episode ends on a positive note when they eventually get Ralph’s sorry Sasquatch ass out and hail Charlie as a true “King of Ice Mountain”.

Our Take

The core of this episode is primarily about Charlie standing up for himself when the bears are unable to because of Ralph’s muscular physique. It’s a well-developed character moment for Charlie as it shows that his good nature has its limits when it comes to how far an individual can be pushed around.
