Review: RWBY Chibi “Road Trip”

Don’t get into a car with strangers.

Spoilers Below:

“Road Trip”

The girls plan to go on a road trip, but Ruby can’t decide what to pack. She ends up stuffing the trunk full of goods, but they all feel like they’re forgetting something. As it turns out, they forgot Jaune and Ren.

Back in the car, the girls read about someone targeting unsuspecting hitchhikers. It turns out the culprit is Cinder, who tries to get Jaune and Ren into her van. While Ren is skeptical, Jaune is easily lured in by candy. When Jaune gets nervous, he manages to get them free from the van– by singing songs until Cinder gets annoyed.

Score:

5/10

“Manly Weapons”

Port advertises his new program— to make a perfect, ‘manly’ weapon. In the middle of his sales pitch, Velvet appears and copies both his weapon and his moustache. Disheartened, Port asks to cut the ad short.

Score:

3/10

It’s a new season, and it starts out with a longer skit. As usual, the humor is just alright, nothing terribly special to discuss. Jaune’s stupidity is once again the butt of the joke, as he uses being irritating to get out of danger that he put himself in. It’s always a little strange to watch a RWBY where the characters are essentially dumbed down and reduced to caricatures, but that’s just the way things are.
