Review: RWBY Chibi “Must Be Nice”

This episode was 4 mins and 33 seconds with zero promo ads.

Spoilers Below:

“Late For Class”

Ruby is continuously late for Prof. Oobleck’s class and keeps getting detention. She tries to disguise herself as a transfer student so she technically can’t be late, but Oobleck sees through her disguise. She tries a mission-impossible stunt to sneak in, but Oobleck catches her. Lastly, she tries drilling a hole through the floor so she can crawl in, but she realizes it’s Saturday. Oobleck comments that she made it in time for Saturday detention.

Score:

6/10

“Must Be Nice”

Yang comments that Weiss is always mean, and should be nicer like Phyrra. Nora says that being nice isn’t always a good thing, recalling the time when Jaune listed off corny attack names, and Phyrra was too nice to say how she actually felt.

Score:

4/10

“Evil Class”

Cinder decides to teach a class on evil traps to the rest of the antagonists. She puts a stick of dynamite in a cake and sets it to explode. The other antagonists aren’t impressed, so in a fit of frustration, Cinder lights the dynamite to prove a point. Covered in cake remains, she declares that she hates teaching.

Score:

3/10

The shorts have been getting a little better; a good sign for the show. Late For Class parodies Mission Impossible and combines it with comedic slapstick pretty well. All the villains interacting with each other was fun for Evil Class, but in several instances, the comedy fell short, particularly with Mercury.

Hopefully, the better shorts signal an upswing in quality for RWBY Chibi, which has been shaky so far.
