Review: Red vs Blue “Belly of the Beast”

Journalists are on the case.

Spoilers Below:

Andrews and Jax discuss how it’s time to stop being sidelined. Andrews says she’s going to snoop around, but first, she needs to distract Sarge, who’s spying on them. Jax acts as a distraction, pretending to be shooting an independent film, and asks Sarge if he wants to audition. Sarge eagerly agrees, and Andrews slips through.

As Andrews sneaks around, she overhears Loco and Temple talking near the cloaking device. Temple demands to know why it isn’t done yet but is confused by Loco’s technical response. Temple asks why Loco couldn’t have just built him a bomb like he asked, and in surprise, Andrews accidentally knocks over a can. The two of them approach her, but she manages to escape in time.

She tells Tucker her suspicions, but he’s been distracted by Temple buffing him up. When she casts enough doubt on the Blues and Reds and expresses her frustration at not being able to find a working computer, Tucker tells her there’s a functional one in Temple’s office. She promises to tell him everything she finds.

The computer is locked tight, so she installs Vic on the main computer. Vic reminds her that she has three requests total before she fulfills her promise and deletes him, and this is her second request. When Vic goes searching for the computer, he finds a video, but before we can see it, Temple walks in on Andrews.

Overview:

This episode was largely setup, but it did it in a clever way. Andrews has taken the spotlight again, and she continues to show both her determination and her covert skills. She isn’t satisfied with the sidelines and doesn’t simply accept the information being fed to her if it doesn’t feel right. In the end, she’s absolutely correct, for Temple has something large planned.

The AI that’s helping her is revealed to be Vic, who’s alive but still covets death. He found something, but is still in the computers– hopefully, he can be of more help in later episodes with his final request. The episode ended on another cliffhanger, so hopefully who Temple is and what drives his motivation will be revealed soon.
