“The Three Mascot-teers

The Principal fires Doug as the soccer team’s mascot and in his place is Randy and Howard. Unfortunately, only one mascot is on at a time, so the duo is split up and now we’ve got a bit of a competition between the two. The sorceror casts a spell on Doug, so Howard and Randy have to put aside their differences so that Randy can fight the fish-monster. Howard and Randy quit being mascots which causes the monster to turn back to Doug which isn’t a good thing.

Our Take

I wasn’t crazy about this episode as I didn’t feel like there was a lot of fighting and most of the jokes being yelled were lame. I also didn’t quite understand how the Principal wasn’t able to change the rules so that there could be two mascots in the first place, and that a student would know more than him about the rules. I know I’m being picky, but when a show isn’t funny, you focus on plot and this one had more holes than swiss cheese.  Extra points for the Titmouse birds cameos.

Escape From Scrap City”

After a battle with McFist and robo-apes, Randy and his arch nemesis get caught in Scrap City while fans are waiting for McFist’s watch to launch. Howard’s waiting too when his dad shows up and the two decide to save Randy from Scrap City. Randy eventually gets tricked by a Q.T. Bot to appear in a coliseum ran by robots and now he’s gotta battle McFist to the death for robo-amusement. Eventually the two have to work together to battle the robots in the arena and then come up with an escape route. Howard and his dad show up JUST in time and everyone’s able to make it to the watch launch in time.

Our Take

Now THIS was an episode. I kinda wanted more of a battle with the robots, but there was enough in here to satisfy. The opens with a bad ass action sequence and there were a lot of twists and turns during the course of the episode. More over, the character designs for all of the robots were really well done, and as such this became maybe my favorite episode of the year.
