Chuckle City 500

We are back in the clown-infused city of Chuckle City for a 500 meter race. No matter what, Rippen can NOT win, but Penn, Sashi, and Boone are too busy squabbling over who gets all the glory. After a couple of legs in the race, the trio decide to work together and build a machine that should beat Rippen once-and-for-all. It doesn’t work, but Larry DOES win the race, which is still better than Rippen winning.

Our Take

This isn’t the first-time that Jeff Gordon has guest-starred on an animated series, so you can definitely sense that the NASCAR champ is getting real comfy behind that mic. Normally, I hate races in cartoons, I think they are so overplayed that everyone has done it at least once. This week is the exception, because we had clowns, and the race felt more like Mario Kart anyway. This is a good thing, but I wish we had a bit more variety in weapons, other racers, other clowns in general, just more from whence this came from. In any case, I had more than a few chuckles, and that’s important.

Rock and Roll

Boone, Penn, and Sashi are a trio of cave-dwellers set in prehistoric times, and they have to stop Rippen from destroying their C.I.L.A. Headquarters by flattening it with a boulder. Fortunately. these kids are loaded like James Bond, but with prehistoric weapons as opposed to an Aston Martin. Instead, they equip a fake log with made-up weapons to help stop Rippen’s boulder with Penn learning a valuable lesson in turning lemons into lemonade.

Our Take

Loved this episode…SO many gags I couldn’t stop laughing. I loved all of the odes to 007, everything from Penn’s ‘weapons’ and the aforementioned log. Also, I couldn’t get over all of the trouble Rippen went to when it came to feeding Penn and the kids getting killed by the tiger-thing and his ‘getaway’ on the rhino via sliding down the hill. Good stuff.
