Review: Lucas Bros. ”Urkel Inside”

Spoilers Below

After winning a Family Matters trivia night hosted by Jerrod, Kenny and Keef are contacted by the FBI and given an important mission…bring back Steve Urkel. Problem is, Jaleel White is a recluse and has all but sworn off the character that made him famous in the first place. As a result, the guys are shrunk and break into Jaleel’s mind so that they can find Urkel in his subconscious and set him free. Along the way, they meet “Laura”, and are attacked by a Robo-Carl, but soon find Urkel and are able to set him free thereby reverting Jaleel back to his proper namesake.

Our Take

While the overall concept and plot of this week’s episode of Lucas Bros. was a lot of fun, I couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed by the journey. We’ve seen other cartoons do episodes where the main characters get shrunk such as Rick and Morty and Futurama, and both have done an outstanding job. So, the bar was set really high, and I think the writers kinda missed it quite a bit. In the end, a fun episode, and Robo-Carl needs a spin-off. Jermaine Fowler did an excellent job as Urkel, too btw. Dear God, I watched a lot of Family Matters as a kid…
