Review: Hotel Transylvania “Great Eggspectations” ; “Hotel Pennsylvania”

Don’t “eggspect” anything too fancy, but it’s still better than the pack.

Spoilers Below

Great Eggspectations

Mavis attempts to take care of a rotten egg to prove that she’s able to keep something alive long enough. When it hatches, the egg becomes another egg, but this one with wings and legs that it uses to chase Mavis all over the place and nearly cook her for dinner. Fortunately, a trusty Venus Flytrap comes to the rescue.

Hotel Pennsylvania

The kids get stuck on this TV show called Hotel Pennsylvania despite the fact that Aunt Lydia forbids the watching of humans on TV. Together with the help of her chicken Diane, Lydia threatens punishment if Mavis and her pals disobey. When Lydia destroys the TV, the kids to a neighbor’s house to watch and learn that Diane also likes her trips to the humans. With the potential of a fatal disease on the line, if the kids don’t finish watching the series Hotel Pennsylvania, everyone’s able to get by a three-headed monster guarding the path to television and make sure proper television gets its watching.

Our Take

Not a bad episode. The plots seem to be better thought out than most series on Disney channel and I think that’s because this isn’t a Disney-produced series. Whereas with efforts like Penn Zero and Phineas & Ferb where recycled plot points are utilized, this show just has fun with the Hotel concept. I also really like the character designs for the characters and may be the strongest point of a show that has dialogue stuck with trying to impress a younger millennial audience.
