Review: Deep Space 69 “Panty-Christ”

Pray4me.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Jay and Hamilton take part in a reality-docu series, unbeknownst to them, where the producers edge on best friends to try and kill each other. Hamilton wins when he shoots Jay at point-blank range with a gun that isn’t loaded with lethal ammo. The duo wins 10,000 something somethings and possibly a newfound lack of trust.

Our Take

A very common premise, we get these all the time. But, it’s about the journey, amiright? And this journey is a decent travel. I was actually surprised by how “giving” the TV show host was as I thought she would’ve put up more of a fight on Jay’s advances, but alas, that proved to not be the case. I would’ve also liked to have spent more time with the citizens of the Planet Celebitia, but everything was paced to try to annoy the viewer into understanding why Hamilton would want to kill Jay.  I think most who have watched Deep Space 69 are wondering how it took this long.

Hamilton is by far the strongest character in this show. He’s got the most layers, and his anguish is delivered with a heartfelt vigor that makes the viewer sympathize with Hamilton on a weekly basis. Hamilton almost never gets in on any of Jay’s shenanigans, and this week that certainly has come to a head. Kudos to the producers for giving fans a character that they can truly sink their teeth into.
