Review: Bob’s Burgers “There’s No Business Like Mr. Business Business”

This one should file.

Spoilers Below

Linda’s sister, Gayle, comes to the restaurant to borrow some (more) money. She was approached by an animal agent, Ian Amberson, about her cat, Mr. Business. Apparently, he looks like the mascot for Chef Cat brand cat food. The current cat playing the mascot is dying and they need a replacement cat that looks identical. Mr. Business fits the bill. Gayle needs the money to overnight the cat’s headshots to the producers. Bob is reluctant to give Gayle the money but, after a meeting with the Ian, he decides that maybe Mr. Business will make enough money to keep Gayle away for awhile.

Once the headshots are sent, Ian tells Gayle that they need to teach Mr. Business to knock over a small can. When Gayle brings the cat to Ian’s office, Mr. Business attacks the man. Bob takes on the job of training Mr. Business to knock over the can. Unfortunately, Ian has already decided to take on a different cat client instead. So the Belchers take Mr. Business to the audition themselves.

That is when Gayle notices that Mr. Business has been grooming all of the fur off of his stomach. She believes this means he is anxious. When Bob leaves the cat alone momentarily, Gayle kidnaps her cat. Bob tries to convince her to come back to the audition but she ends up convincing him to give up.

Oh, and Tina, Gene, and Linda all end up eating the Chef Cat cat food. Even Bob admits it’s pretty good when he tries it.

While this wasn’t a terrible episode, it wasn’t particularly interesting either. I don’t find Gayle to be an interesting character. On the contrary, she usually annoys me. On the positive side, she wasn’t actually in the episode all that much. But, when she was, she was annoyingly stupid. How could she possibly survive on her own and be that stupid? On the negative side, there wasn’t a lot going on. Sure, Bob had to train Mr. Business but it didn’t seem very difficult. It seems like the entire reason this episode existed was simply so Bob could yell at Ian Amberson. Meh.
