Review: Bob’s Burgers “The Wolf of Wharf Street”

Linda’s fun goes too far for a spooky Halloween adventure.

Overview (Spoilers Below):

It’s Halloween night, and Linda is going trick-or-treating with the kids, despite their protests. Rumors about a wolf prowling the area are being reported on local news (allegedly), and Linda would be very embarrassed if her kids got eaten.

Linda spends the episode trying to convince the kids that she’s not just a mom, but a fun mom. Seeing an authority figure leading young kids in a dangerous wolf hunt on Halloween night is pretty amusing, and it’s definitely a very Linda thing to do. Teaming up with returning character Randy the filmmaker, the group tracks the wolf to its creepy lair in a tangled mass of dead branches. Luckily, it turns out to be the Alpaca missing from the petting zoo. Meanwhile, pain-pill induced hallucinations convince Bob that Teddy is the wolf. After chaining his babysitter to a table, he takes off into the night and encounters the real Wonder Wolf, Felix’s escaped pet who apparently has a penchant for pineapple pizza.

The episode ends with everyone gathered in the Belcher’s living room to relive the adventures of the evening. And hey, maybe the kids did have fun with mom after all. (“We had fun around you,” Gene clarifies.)

Our Take:

Linda gets in over her head trying to prove she’s still cool. While this episode didn’t really cover any new ground for the series, it was still an enjoyable Halloween special – as funny as I expect from the show, while tossing in some extra October spookiness. Both storylines were interesting and had plenty of fun character moments, like Louise’s bargaining with Randy or Gene’s admiring respect for whoever produced that pile of poop.

Random Observations:

Get you a friend like Teddy who will hold your penis up while you use the bathroom.

Louise: "You don't bring a mom to a fun fight."

This is the first time Mr. Fischoeder has called Linda, 'Lady Bob', right?

I want my ringtone to be Linda saying 'spooky-poopy'.

Bob slowly falling down the stairs had me in stitches.

Gene: "And with that rousing speech, we march to our deaths."
