Review: Apple & Onion “The Perfect Team”
Was this week’s episode, perfect?
Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)
As the titular duo play a PC game that feels eerily similar to Frogger called “Hedgehog Highway” they come to realize they’re a “perfect team” after figuring out how to get out of certain obstacles. But before they can reach the final level, Apple becomes distracted by a cat they encounter at their apartment window which seems cute at first, but isn’t particularly fond of Onion due to his hairstyle with Apple’s solution fixing this consists of putting a shower cap on Onion’s head to be on the cat’s good side.
Despite only having the cat for one day, a good portion of the episode is spent on Apple being easily distracted by the cat’s cuteness which becomes which hinders any game time between the two as a consequence, but Onion’s figures out an elaborate way to distract the kitty enough to keep it out of it’s house.
Apple figures out what’s happened and discovers that the cat is stuck at the opposite end of a freeway, but through an act of teamwork between the two, they manage to guide the cat get out of the dangerous obstacles it was stuck in and after forgiving each other, they later figure out who the cat’s true owner, it’s name and why the cat hated Onion’s hair, to begin with. The episode ends when they go back to playing their game with the acquired knowledge & wisdom they gained from saving the cat and celebrate with their own random victory dance.
Our Take
This was a relatable scenario for anyone who’s had to live with a pet owner where the pet outright hates you. The jokes were funny and the Frogger parodied video game within the show’s universe was decent and I could actually see it as a real video game knock-off of sorts if it was made. As for the reason behind why the cat hated Onion’s hair was a good twist that made sense while conveying a good laugh.
While we do later find out who the cat’s owner is, it remains uncertain if we’ll see the cat again in later episodes but I had a blast with this one.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
