Review: Adventure Time “Stakes” “Empress Eyes”
The Ice King wakes up from a night terror to find a real nightmare sitting on his bed. “Empress Eyes” starts out with a creepy promise, but fizzles out with no real conflict. Again, all of the pieces were there; they just needed to be put together.
The monster at the end of the Ice King’s bed is the Empress. After “hypnotizing” Simon – and finding out that penguins taste like cheese water, – she sends her new minion to fetch the only source of human blood in Ooo, Finn. A few tropes later, and the Empress finds the end of Marcy’s stake, and the Vampire Queen regains her invisibility.
I’m a huge fan of Marceline. She’s The Punisher of the Adventure Time Universe. And perhaps therein lies the problem. Just like the Marvel can’t translate their anti-hero into a feature-length film, Adventure Time seems to have missed the point of having a demon vampire be the lead character.
Please, tighten up the story, make everything twice as creepy, and quit wasting awesome bad-guys with really lame episodes.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
