Review: Adam Ruins Everything “Adam Ruins What We Learned in School”

This was a lot better than I thought it was gonna be.

Adam is animated and joins up with a teacher and a bunch of kids largely inspired by the Magic School Bus. Here’s today’s lesson plan:

Columbus

Adam gives us the true tale behind Christopher Columbus’ expedition to the “New World” and how he wasn’t necessarily the most heartwarming guest.

Ancient Egypt

King Tut? Try King Nuts. The only reason why King Tut became famous was that there was a fashion trend in the twenties. Bigger deal? This whole bit was animated in the style of Mr. Peabody & Sherman.

World of Grammar

Set in the style of Schoolhouse Rocks (I think), Adam tells us that grammar police are a bunch of motherfuckers. Fortunately, Adam assures the teacher that she’s still very valuable in helping teach today’s kids.

Our Take

This very special episode of Adam Ruins Everything should be a spin-off series with an animated Adam giving us the low-down every week. Why? First of all, his face is just MADE for cartoons. His little-animated caricature is just as adorable as anything Disney has produced, and Low Brow studios did a fabulous job in accentuating his features regardless of which cartoon throwback look the studio was looking for. I wasn’t in favor of that few minutes of live-action that was thrown in there, but overall,  Adam definitely didn’t ruin his first animated production.
