Reddit AMA Recap: Pretty much everyone at Rooster Teeth that works on Red vs Blue

I can’t say I’ve ever seen an entire TEAM of people take over a Reddit AMA, but that’s exactly what happened yesterday as Miles Luna and his band of outlaws dropped by to take fan questions about Red vs Blue, RwB, and a whole bunch more. Check out some highlights down below:

On how Halo has changed over the years and even something to think about when Halo 5 releases:

Miles Luna: There’s no question that the games have changed over the years. Personally, I preferred the play style of the first three Halo games (in terms of multiplayer). It felt like the games were more about map control, and teams that communicated always came out on top. Halo 4 felt more like CoD to me than Halo, which isn’t a bad thing, but it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for in a Halo multiplayer game. That being said, I got to check out Halo 5 on a trip to Seattle and fucking loved the matches I got to play (and from a machinima stand point, it’s LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than Halo 4).

On how the team responds to the popularity of Red vs Blue:

Clayton: To be honest I get so deep into the work I sometimes forget people watch the show.. until I read comments or someone talks to me about it. Its the best surprise forgetting you work on something that so many people love.

Miles: It’s really unbelievable. One of the best moments this season was showing our new team members what it was like when a new episode was released. They knew RvB was big, but I don’t think they realized just how big it was. Robert, one of our new compositors, stayed up til 4am watching reaction videos of episode one. It’s a very exciting show to work on.

Koen: We are lucky to be working on a property that has an amazing group of fans. It’s very rare to have such a connection to the people whom enjoy the content. The response is immediate and uplifting.

The first time anyone at Rooster Teeth has talked about the passing of Monty and how it has affected Red vs Blue and RwBy:

Gray Haddock: Monty stopped working on RvB after s10. Waiting til s12 to bring back in animated fights let Miles and the gang kind of hit the reset button in terms of the overall action style. On s12, we only had two animators doing the custom scenes all season including the fights, Kris Peterson and Chris Dike, both of whom moved on to other gigs after that season. They occasionally worked with Shaun Charney (DPXentertainment on youtube). And then this year we started working with Carmichael Simon (who we met through his work on Lazer Team) and his team for choreography, alongside our half-dozen animators on this season’s team.
As for RWBY, we can only take things day by day. And not a day goes by that we don’t miss having Monty alongside us.

The producers of Red vs Blue answered quite a bit more during their Reddit AMA session, but the fact that SOMEONE from Rooster Teeth has finally decide to address the elephant in the room that is Monty’s passing I think helps. I’ve always felt that acknowledging starts the healing process and I’m happy to see Gray step up.

Red vs Blue has a new episode next week, check out a clip here.
