No New Season of ‘Metalocalypse,’ No Good Reason Why

Metalocalypse S4

When people who aren’t fans of metal music ask why the artists sound so angry, this article’s subject is one reasons I’ll point to.

Metalocalypse has been canceled, and there will not be a fifth season, which is a shock and an insult to fans of both the show and the band it stars.

And the worst part? Fans were recently teased with a promo video for season five that turned out to be a fake simply composed of season four clips, as was confirmed by Metalocalypse’s co-creator and musical mastermind, Brendon Small.

So why the cancelation? Here’s Small’s reasoning:

Well, not much help there. It couldn’t be the ratings, because Zap2it shows the fourth season (which aired in 2012) was quite successful. As was the band itself; the real-life touring version of the fictional TV Dethklok was so popular that they actually toured with Mastodon – as the headliner!

In the end, it doesn’t matter. Metalocalypse is no more, save for a future mystery project planned by Small “to service a final story & music- but not in way fans are used to,” he said.

Those still clinging to hope have begun a petition to persuade Adult Swim to bring the show back. Although the odds of this working are slim (especially with a goal of only 10,000 signatures), but if you have a minute, you may want to give it a look.

You might just make a metalhead smile.
