It Was Bound To Happen! Donald Trump To Get Animated On Showtime

After Donald Trump got elected President, there was definitely a bit of a gold rush in terms of animated political cartoons wanting to take advantage. A couple of these ideas managed to find themselves in the running for Kickstarted projects that included the likes of Greg Cipes attached to an animated series called A Fowl American and a bunch of other shit on Youtube. Les we forget, I guarantee Family Guy and a number of other primetime shows already on the air is eventually going to get a take on an animated Trump soon as well. Oh, yeah, and then there’s The Simpsons shorts, the franchise that ironically enough even deflected Trump’s offer to come in and voice himself on an episode.

Probably, one of the better animated Trumps is the one that’s been featured on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and CBS has noticed because they just ordered 10/30-episodes of an untitled animated comedy series executive produced by Colbert set to premiere this Fall on Showtime!

The fresh, cutting-edge comedy will present the truish adventures of Trump’s confidants and bon vivants – family, top associates, heads of government, golf pros and anyone else straying into his orbit – intrepidly exploring their histories and their psyches, revealing insights into what makes them so definitively Trumpian. It’s a workplace comedy where the office happens to be oval; it’s a character study in search of character, as seen through the eyes of an imaginary documentary crew. The producers note that five minutes of Trump current events will be allocated per episode to address whatever the fuck the President did that week.

Tim Luecke, who co-created the Late Show version of Animated Trump, will serve as lead animator (and co-executive producer) Produced by CBS Television Studios, the series will be executive produced by Colbert and Chris Licht. R.J.Fried will act as showrunner.
