Justin Roiland is on FIRE in terms of work. He currently voices characters on some really great shows like Fish Hooks (Oscar), Out There (Chris), and of course his new upcoming series with Dan Harmon Rick and Morty coming soon to Adult Swim. For those who don’t know Rick and Morty is a half hour animated Sci-Fi comedy that premiers on Adult Swim this December. Rick (voiced by me) is a nihilistic scientist who drags his stupid grandson Morty (also voiced by me) on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe.

To start thinks off the right way, he actually posted up a whole bunch of notes about the series including guest stars like  David Cross (!), Dana Carvey, Claudia Black, Virginia Hey, Nolan North,Phil Hendrie, Richard Christy (!!), Tom Kenny, Rob Paulson, Maurice LeMarche, Tress MacNeille, Jess Harnell, Brandon Johnson, Cassie Steele, Aislinn Paul, Echo Kellum, and many others. Also Morty’s parents are being played by awesome selections in Sarah Chalke (Scrubs) and Chris Parnell (Archer) with Spencer Grammer playing his sister. This is becoming a legit as hell show. Justin would further give us more notes in the Reddit AMA.

To start off Justin would offer up what are the major differences between Rick and Morty and the shorts saying:

Adult Swim series actually has a lot more effort and thought put into it. It’s still those two characters, but now they’re related and have a whole family. Definitely less ball licking. That is an unfortunate side effect of working for broadcast TV. Rick still fucks with Morty quite a bit though. It’s great. We retained what is great about the short.

Justin would also shed light on the future of the hit animated series Out There on IFC in which he stars as Chris. Turns out, negotiations are ongoing but things look promising:

I have been bugging Ryan Quincy and the IFC folks off and on about season 2. I really love the show and want to do more. It sounds like they’re talking currently

Justin would also note that the series WILL be doing a panel at San Diego Comic Con for Rick and Morty and furthermore he would mention that the series is set to start in December for Adult Swim. The AMA has a bunch more too, like working with Dan Harmon on Rick and Morty and also voicing Lemongrab on Adventure Time. In any case, Rick and Morty has sounded pretty promising and after the most recent Upfront where we got to see more of it, it looks like this could be another solid addition to Justin’s already awesome resume.
