English Dub Review: Space Battleship Yamato 2199 “A Choice for the Future”
Trying to be as spoiler-free as possible buuuutttt….
Overview (Spoilers Below)
After the grueling battle of last week, the Yamato lands on the rather hospitable planet of Beemela and the ship decides to send a land crew led by Kodai to check out the terrain. Eventually, the crew finds an important piece of the ship that should allow the Yamato not only to be fixed but actually be better than ever.
Meanwhile, the military unit of the ship attempts to stage a coup but are stopped before any serious damage occurs. Okita takes his post like a badass and the Yamato continues its journey.
Our Take
Where…the hell…did THIS come from? A coup? No signs of this whatsoever were made available and I’m totally fine with it. The events that transpired put another cog in the wheel of shit that could go wrong on this ship and I’m loving every second of it. And now we might have an alien onboard? I do wish a little more action transpired in this random Predator-like jungle, but overall, a solid episode.
