English Dub Review: Lastman “Go On, Sing Something For Us”

Lastman meets The Voice.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Richard and Duke are fighting their way out of prison against two Nazis and they do just that much to the chagrin of the Sergeant who put the cuffs on Richard, to begin with, and as a result was relieved of her duties.

Meanwhile, Tomie, nearly gets a chance to leave Milo’s “talent agency”, but Milo makes sure that the competition is no longer in business.

Our Take

PS4 app issues aside, this week’s episode of Lastman was definitely the close of a bunch of arcs and it looks like business is about to pick up. This week, the direction of the music scene was excellent, and I think Michael Sinterniklaas needs to be given special commendation for dubbing the scene because I would say 90% of the time, Japanese anime with English dubbing usually skips the music dubbing and in this case that didn’t happen and was actually produced quite beautifully. The fight scenes were intense as usual, and I loved the heart-touching moment at the end with Richard being released from prison showcasing more of Jeremie Perin’s strengths behind the wheels and certainly should put him in conversations with the anime greats because quite frankly he has all the tools to be crazy in adult animation.

The streaming quality of VRV/Mondo was a mess and nearly destroyed my experience with the show, but the episode won’t suffer as a result. But, when the streaming service gets its shit together you’re gonna have a quality series to watch and next week’s episode looks even more intense.
